Welcome to Sea of Sin RPG’s rules and regulations. Do take note of the above date, as this is in fact the last time the rules were updated, so if you have not read, them since the date posted above, I do strongly suggest you read them now, as they have, in fact been revamped.

    1. Ignorance of the law, is no excuse. This means, if you don’t want to read through these rules, that’s fine. Feel free to scoot on through the rules now, find the answers that you’ll need for number one in your audition form, and get into the rpg…. BUT, if you break one of these rules, you will be removed, why? Because the rules are here for you to review, so there’s no reason you don’t know them.

    2. Procrastination is not your friend.  We may be more laid back than most rpgs, but that doesn't mean that we should be the last thing on your list, or that you can wait for months to do anything. We are still an rpg, as an rpg we do still have requirements, and if those aren't met, well... Then you know what that means. Waiting until the last minute won't save you either. Life happens, and if something takes place last minute it won't be an excuse to cover a large window of failing to get things done.

    NOW…. Let’s get started!

    COMMUNICATION

As cool as it would be to have, none of us actually have E.S.P. This means.

    1. You are going to need to communicate with us regularly. Either through DM or within the discord server.

    2. Lack of communication can and will get you removed from the rpg. Should it be prolonged.

    3. If we have no update on you, but see you active, for any amount of time, regardless of where (online), we will take that as your silent request to be removed from the rpg.

    Respect

This rule is not up for discussion or debate. Respect should be shown to staff, members, affiliates, etc. If disrespect is shown, including harassment for posts or to get your edits more swiftly, and we learn about it. You will be removed. This is your warning.

    OOC Drama

No out of character drama will be tolerated, period. If you are caught posting drama, or participating in drama you will be removed, and depending on the depth of the offense, you will not be welcomed back into the rpg, at any given time.

    Audition Form

We have at least, two forms, one for existing members, and one for new members. New Members will find any and all forms within the audition board section, while existing members can find their form in an entirely different area. Any form that is not filled out 100% will be automatically denied.

    Multiple Characters

We do allow multiple characters, but there is certain criteria that must be met by the member in order for this to be allowed, you can learn more about this once you are a member. As a new member you can bring in only one character. This can be a canon or a premade OC (a character created by the rpg it's self), or even a cyo (only on promotion) and you can build from there.

    Semi/Hiatus

If for any reason you need to go on a semi or even a full hiatus, there is a form within our discord server that you are asked to fill out, a hiatus dropped in a message will no longer suffice, so do not contact the staff about this. Simply fill out the form.

Hiatus means that you are unable to post, this means in the rpg, out of the rpg, and in the discord server. If you are active in any of these three places, you are NOT on a hiatus, and therefore we will request that you show some form of activity within the roleplay of the rpg. Failure to do this could result in your character(s) being removed from vital story-lines, or even removed from the rpg as a whole.

Semi-Hiatus simply means that you are going to be slower, activity in discord server is still expected as a possibility at this time, while roleplay may not happen, or may be unpredictable at best. Just like to go on hiatus/semi-hiatus, when you are ready to be removed from it, as stated once already, you will need to contact the owner. How many characters do you currently write?

We all know that real life happens, but abuse of a status of hiatus, will not be tolerated, nor will it be forgiven. This means, if it is learned that you are active when you are claiming you can’t be, you will be removed from the rpg, and you will not be welcomed back, as trust is a rather important commodity in real life. At the same time, extended hiatuses, may be met with the suggestion that you step down from the group and return when you are able to be online for a longer period of time. This lessens stress on the member who requires a hiatus, as well as taking tension off the members and staff.

    Muse Loss

The loss of muse does happen, this means a character does not call to you. However, this is once again, something that we can not read your mind about. Without communication on the front of a “lost muse” we will be led to believe you’re simply not writing the character, at which time it will be deemed a “dead character” and will be removed from your roster. This is your warning. If your character is not being posted, due to loss of muse, we will allow a couple of months for the muse to be reclaimed before we deem muse not returning and open the role back up, or cancel it completely. Depending on the importance of the role it could be more, or less time. Which will be communicated with you upon you coming to us about the lost muse. Obviously this does not apply to members on hiatus, again, long as you communicate with us that you are.

As of January 1, 2024 we have added the right to retire or semi retire a character within your roster as long as it has had activity developing a story for the appropriate period of time. This means if you have been writing a character within the rpg and built it up for three years, if your muse is lost we're not going to just re-open the role for someone else, as it's a lot of information for a new writer to take in, but once more this is something you will have to verbally request, we aren't going to make assumptions.

    Activity

Like any other rpg, activity is a must. We have certain guidelines for activity, a character can not go unwritten for five months or it's lost to the writer, activity checks which vary from time to time to keep things fresh. Note, that even when there are no active ACs, we do still monitor your writing, to make certain characters are still active, and stories are progressing.

Discord activity (ie banter) is NOT roleplay, and thus will not be counted as activity within the roleplay. As everything is public on the forum, we can keep everything together in a nice little bundle. This is not to police you, but more for us to know where we should add stories and such. This does not mean you can slack off however. Even older members will need to show some level of activity within the writing in a month’s period of time. No activity what so ever, unless you have told the owner you’re on hiatus, will result in you being removed from the rpg. This means writing, and thus does not include banter and such on discord, we just recommend it. Have you ever played a character opposite of your rl gender?

    First Month

We do allow you a month to get acquainted with things, get comfortable with the discord, the members, and even the site we roleplay on. Do note however that in this month you will still need to communicate with us. We are not mind readers, and if you are silent this entire month we will assume that you are not interested in being part of the family, as such we will remove you. This, is your warning. Real life does come first, but should you go on hiatus, within your first month of joining, we may ask you to step down from your role, and re-open it to the public, allowing you the right to possibly claim the role again upon your return.

    Removal

We are more lenient with things than any other rpg on these other sites. You can ask any of them. I have been told by most of them that I am far more patient than they would possibly put up with. That being said we’ve gotten burned, a lot. Which also means we’re going to be putting our foot down with a few things. We will be paying more attention to communication. For this reason we are adding this section.

If you are removed, from Sea of Sin RPG, for any reason, the soonest that you will be welcome to re-audition will be three months, greater offenses will take more time, and some offenses will be unforgivable. Which means…. Talk. To. Us. You obviously aren’t worried about us biting, or you wouldn’t be reading through to sign these rules and audition to begin with.

    Finally

We do require Discord, for ooc communication, you will be invited to the server but you are not required to participate in the ooc or voice chats we do. We simply require you to have discord, and be in the server so that we can reach you, and in return, you can reach us if needed. We also roleplay on this forum site, so if you desire to delete your profiles from other sites, or make a different character for here, you are welcome to. Proof that you have signed these rules, will go into your audition, so make sure you read the rules thoroughly.
